Mission Statement

The Commack Fire Department is located in Suffolk County, New York ( Long Island ). Our Department is 100% volunteer , consisting of 125 members.We have proudly served the community of Commack since 1906. We cover an area of 18 square miles with a dedicated Truck Company and three Engine Companies responding from four stations.

 

WORKING HOUSE FIRE

09:56 A General Alarm for a house fire went out in the vicinity of Crabapple La x Elder Dr. Chief 30 Engines 4,11,12,13 Rescue 9 and Quint 14 responded. First arriving units foud heavy fire showing on exposure 3. Engine 11 picked up a hydrant and stretched 2 lines. Engine 4's crew made entry and found 2 residents still in the house. The residents were led safely out of the house. An aggressive attack brought the fire under control quickly. The Smithtown Fire Department asssited with an RIT team and the Kings Park Fire Department with an engine to the scene. Units were secure @ 12:30


 
   
   
MORNING CAR FIRE

10:20 COMPANIES 1,2,3 Were dispatched to the Dairy Barn on Jericho Tpke for the car fire. Chiefs 30,31,33 Engine 11,12,13 responded. Chief 31 was first on scene and advised of an involved auto. Engine 11 was first engine o/s scene and stretched a line quickly knocking down the fire. Units were in service @ 11:00

 
   
   
OVERTURN HEAVY RESCUE ON BURR ROAD

09:15 Companies were alerted for an Overturn Motor Vehicle Accident with entrapment on Burr Rd. x Larkfield Rd. Chief 31 Rescue 9 and Engines 11,13 responded. Crews found on vehicle on its side with the driver still inside. The car was stabilized and the windshield was removed with a sawzall for EMS to access the patient. A large spill was taken care of and units were secure @ 09:50

 
QUICK RESPONSE PREVENTS MAJOR FIRE AT OLD FARMS SCHOOL

21:23 A General Alarm for fire went out for the Old Farms Elementary School on Calvert Ave. All Chiefs Engines 4,11,12,13 Rescue 9 and Quint 14 responded. Dispatch advised units that County was recieving multiple calls reporting the school on fire. Chief 31 was first on scene and advised that an exterior wall was on fire and just mad its way inside the structure. Engine 11arrived and stretched a line quickly extinguishing the fire. Crews forced entry and checked for extension. Two juveniles were detained by Suffolk County Police for setting the fire. Unit were in service @ 22:40

 
   
   
JERICHO TURNPIKE HEAVY RESCUE

16:41 Companies 1,3,4 were alerted for a Motor Vehicle Accident with entrapment on Jericho Tpke x Indian Head Rd. Chief 31 Rescue 9 and Engine 4 responded. Units pulled up on a 2 car MVA with one driver trapped. Rescue 9's cre used the Jaws to open the driver door for Commack EMS. Aspill was taken care of and units went in service @ 17:00

 
   
   
WORKING HOUSE FIRE

Just after 09:50 Companies were alerted to a house fire on Winston Dr. Chief 31 Engines 4,11,12,13 Rescue 9 and Quint 14 responded. Saftey Officer 4 was first on scene and advised Dispatch of the working fire. Uits arrived to find heavy fire showing from the 1-2 corner of a 1 story private dwelling. Engine 4 arrived stretched 2 lines and hit the hydrant. The Truck Company made searches and ventilated the structure. The fire was under control in 20 minutes. The Hauppague Fire Department assisted with a RIT team and Kings Park Fire Department with an Engine to the scene. One Engine From Greenlawn stood by at Fire Headquarters. OVERTURN ON LARKFIELD ROAD

Just before 0800 this morning Companies were alerted for and overturn MVA with entrapment on Larkfield Rd, x Sarina Dr. Chiefs 30,31 and Rescue 9 Responded. Units arrived to find 1 car overturned with no entrapment. Rescue 9's crew secured the vehicle and fluids in the roadway.

 
DRIVER WITH MEDICAL CONDITION WREAKS HAVOC ON JERICHO TURNPIKE

14:22 Companies were a alerted for an overturn MVA on Jericho Tpke just west of Fire HQ. Units pulled up to find 1 vehicle on its roof and numerous vehicles damaged. No one was trapped in the overturn but 3 people sustained injuries. The overturn vehicle was struck by another vehicle whose driver was having a medical emergency. After striking the SUV the vehicle continued down the road hitting numerous vehicles in the ford dealership. The vehicle still kept going striking a pole and landscape truck. Then proceeded across all lanes of Jericho into the Meinike parking where it struck 2 more vehicles before coming to a stop. PHOTOS BY STEVE SILVERMAN

 
   
   
WORKING HOUSE FIRE

At 13:35 All Companies were alerted for a house fire IVO 30 Ramsey Rd. Chief 31, Engines 2,3,4,12,13 Rescue 9 and Quint 14 responded. Units were advised that multiple calls were being recieved. A member who lives around the block was first on scene and advised of a working fire. Quit 14 was first due and stretched 2 lines and picked up a hydrant. Fire was showing on exposure 1 all floors in a 2 story split. Kings Park FD was requested for RIT. East Northport Fd for 1 Engine to the scene Greenlwan Fd 1 Engine for standby. An agresssive interior attack was initiated while searches and ventilation were underway. All fire was knocked down in 15 minutes and crews remained on scene for 2 hours doing overhaul.

 
   
   
DUMPSTER FIRE BEHIND MULTIPLEX

Just after 16:00 hrs Company 3 was alerted for a dumpster fire behind the Commack Multiplex. Chiefs 31,33 and Engine 3 responded. Units rolled up on a 10 yard dumpster involved. Co 3 stretced a foam line and mad quick work of the fire.
