Mission Statement

The Commack Fire Department is located in Suffolk County, New York ( Long Island ). Our Department is 100% volunteer , consisting of 125 members.We have proudly served the community of Commack since 1906. We cover an area of 18 square miles with a dedicated Truck Company and three Engine Companies responding from four stations.

 

COMMACK ROAD HEAVY RESCUE

21:30 A Heavy Rescue was transmitted on Commack Rd. x Henry St. Chiefs 30,31,32 Rescue 9  Engines 12,13 responded. Chief 31 was first on scene and advised of a 2 car accident with one driver trapped. Rescue ('s crew along with SCPD ESU removed the door and roof. Engine 13 stretched a line due to a ruptured fuel tank on the vehicle. Units secured at 22:30


 
   
   
HEAVY RESCUE ON TH E LIE

Just after 17:30 A Motor Vehicle Accident with entrapment was sounded for the W/B LIE under the Sagtikos Parkway Bridge. Units rolled up on a 3 car MVA with 2 trapped in one vehicle. Rescue 9's crew went to work removing the drivers door and the roof. All units secured at 18:00


 
   
   
COMMERCIAL STRUCTURE FIRE

04:25 Companies 3,4 and the truck were alerted for an automatic commercial alarm at the Ciao Baby Resturaunt on Jericho Tpke. Units arrived on scene with nothing showing. Crews observed a light haze through the windows and forced entry into the building. Members started searching for the source . After poking up the ceiling tiles crews encountered heavy fire in the cockloft. Chief 33 resounded a General alarrn for the working fire. Two 2 1/2 lines were advanced and put into operation. Conditions deteriorated rapidly and a crews were withdrawn and a defensive attack was put into play. Numerous Fd's were called in on mutual aid. East Northport,Happague,Smithtown.Brentwood,Kings Park Dix HIlls Fd's all to the scene. Huntington Manor and Greenlawn for Standby. Three Ladders were put into operation . The fire was held to Ciao Baby with smmoke and water damage to 3 adjoining stores. Crews were on scene until 09:30 Hrs.


 
   
   
HOMEOWNER VERY LUCKY

15:12 A Motor Vehicle Accident with entrapment was activated on Verleye Ave. A Vehicle whose driver was having a medical condition left the road almost striking a homeowner who was getting the mail.The homeowner was able to get out of the way as the vehicle came up the lawn and struck a tree just feet from the house. The driver wasnt trapped crews secured the vehicle and a spill. Units went in service at 16:00


 
   
   
OVERTURN HEAVY RESCUE ON VETERANS HIGHWAY

17:18 An Overturn Motor Vehicle Accident with entrapment was transmittes on Veterans Hwy x Wyandanch Blvd. Chief 31 Rescue 9 Engines 4,11,13 responded. Rescue 9 was first on scene and advised that one was trapped. Crews removed the drivers door and windshield to remove the patient. Crews scured both vehicles and fluids in the roadway. Units secured @18:15


 
   
   
ENGINE GOES TO GREENLAWN HOUSE FIRE

18:55 Engine Company 2 was activated to respond to Greenlwan for a working house fire on Timberidge La. Engine 12 responded and was instructed to pickup a hydrant and stretch lines to protect the exposures. Units encountered heavy fire in a 2 story colonial. All the occupants exited safely. Company 2 remained on scene until 22:00


 
   
   
DOOR POP ON INDIANHEAD ROAD

13:18 Commack Ambulance requested  the Heavy Rescue for a door pop at a motor vehicle accident I/F/O the Library on Indian Head Rd. Chiefs 30,31 Rescue 9 Engines 11 and 13 responded. Rescue 9's crews used the jaws to pop the door. Tree limbs also had to be cut to better access the vehicle. Both vehicles were secured and units returned to service @ 13:50


 
   
   
COMPACTOR FIRE

15:15 An Automatic Waterflow Alarm was transmitted at the shoe store in the Mayfair Shopping Center. Chief 31 Engines 11,12 Rescue 9 and Quint 14 responded. First arriving units were advised by store personnel that there was smoke in the building and the sprinkler system was activated in the rear of the store. Crews found the compactor attached to the building was on fire. The sprinkler system knocked the fire down. The roll off was seperated from the compactor and crews doused the contents. Units secured @ 16:45


 
   
   
CAR FIRE AT 7-11

19:40 A Car Fire was transmitted at the 7-11 on Jericho Tpke x Beechwood La. Chiefs 31,33 Engines 4,11,13 and Rescue 9 responded. Crews made quick work of the fire and wen tin service @ 20:10


 
   
   
MVA WITH CAR FIRE ON JERICHO TURNPIKE

Just after midnight a Motor Vehicle Accident with a car fire was transmitted on Jerich Tpke x Beechwood La. Chiefs 30,31.33 Rescue 9 Engines 4,11,13 responded. Chief 33 was first on scene and advised of a 2 car MVA with 1 on fire and all victims out of the vehicle. Engine 11 arrived and quickly extinguished the fire. Crews secured the vehicles,fluids in the road and assisted Commack Ambulance. Units were back in service at 00:50
